thebargainsmusic Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 HELP ME!!!! I am in Spain and my car has gone to sleep. Literally parked at a friends house and it refused to start again. Know a little amount about cars. Enough to know it's not the battery/engine hasn't seized etc. Turn the key to position 2 and all the usual dashboard lights illuminated, turn it to number 3 and nothing happens at all. Have tried disconnecting the battery. Checked all the fuses. Hasn't rained in a couple of weeks, definitely no rain in footwells etc. Any ideas anybody? MK1 Diesel Galaxy. P Reg. Much appreciated! seatkid Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 See if it will start if towed. In that case its a starter motor circuit problem (which could be anything from starter motor itself/wiring to/relay/fuse/switch) Quote

Fortunately I have just spent 3 hours checking relays all function etc and fuses/starter motor wiring etc. I resorted to hitting the starter with a hammer. BINGO! Time to get a new one............. Thanks for the response! Quote
